Ever considered a career in research?
Have burning questions like ‘What exactly it is that you do as a researcher?’, ‘Where should I do postgrad studies?’, ‘How do I get funding for postgrad studies?’, ‘How do I excel as a researcher?’
We at Women In Computer Science Society had the same thoughts which is why we held a ‘Careers in Research’ event. We had Dr. Melissa Densmore , a Faculty member share her inspiring life story from America to India to South Africa. We also had postgraduate ladies available to chat and answer questions, literally any question from Choosing a supervisor to Work life balance.
We concluded the 1 hour event over pizza. Overall it was an informative intimate event. We hope we inspired researchers in the room.
